Did you know there are five Grade II listed toilets or conveniences in Birmingham?

Conserved conveniences. Listed lavatories. Protected privies. Sheltered shhh … no we can’t think of one. In a previous blog we wrote about the Grade II listed status of the Gunmakers Arms. While doing a bit of research on the British Listed Buildings website we came across the fact that there are five toilets with listed status in Birmingham and we thought it would make an interesting blog.

Most of the five listed toilets or conveniences are all located close to the city center. Two are in the Jewellery Quarter (on Lionel St and Vyse St), one was on New Town Row (City Center), one is in Digbeth (on Liverpool St) and the fifth is in Balsall Heath (Court Road).
